Tell City Electric Department is currently in the process of updating our website.
New rates and charges will be implemented effective June 1, 2008

We appreciate your interest in our utility, and we will continue to serve our community with the most reliable service possible.
- For new
residential electric Customers who have made a
proper request, TCED will provide the necessary extension of electric
facilities in accordance with the Tap-In Fee and Development Policies
of TCED. In such instances, the Customer may be billed the
difference between the installation costs and the estimated revenue in
accordance with the Tap-In Fee and Development Policies.
- For new electric service, the Customer shall furnish the
meter base and socket, and the conduit and installation, except that in
certain circumstances TCED may elect to require curb side metering, in
which case TCED will furnish the meter base and a circuit
breaker. The meter base, conduit riser, and other portions of the
installation must be installed according to the Tell City Building Code
regulations. The Customer will be instructed as to the
requirements when applying for service. Requirements shall
include, but not be limited to, the location of service, minimum
service height, character of service, limit on capacity or other
pertinent requirements.
- All required building inspections must be made before TCED
will install permanent meters. After certification of the builder
and builder's electrician TCED may, at its sole option, provide
temporary construction power through their permanent electrical
facilities. Such temporary construction power may be terminated
at any time upon failure of inspection, lack of safety precautions, or
failure to obtain a Certificate of Inspection or a Certificate of
Occupancy from the Inspecting Authority. If the new home is in
Tell City or its extraterritorial jurisdiction, the Customer will need
an inspection certificate from the Inspecting Authority. Before
permanent service is offered, TCED may at it's sole option require a
Certificate of Occupancy from the Inspecting Authority.
- All meter will be installed, maintained, owned, and read by
TCED. Customers are specifically denied access to any meter or
metering equipment, except by the pre-arrangement with TCED.
- All new services installed after the effective date of
these General Terms and Conditions of Service shall require a Tap-In
Fee in accordance with the Tap-In Fee Schedule and shall be subject to
the TCED Development Policy.
- All requirements of the Tap-In Fee Schedule and the
Department Policy shall be met before new services are installed.
