To apply for electrical service with TCED, you will need the following info:

• Address of your home or business
  
• Lease/Rental Agreements, or Purchase Agreement if buying on contract
  
• Names of all occupants 18 years or older
  
• Valid photo ID for all occupants above

Service Change and Upgrades

Customers may require changes in their electrical service - both inside and outside - of their homes. Some upgrades and changes only require you to contact an electrician and get a permit. But some changes you may want or need will require assistance from TCED. Your electrician will probably contact the department for you. If not, we will need your name & address, and the nature of the work.

​When applying for and making changes to your service connection with TCED, you will be asked for various details regarding your project, such as:

• Do you have electric gas/heat, or water heater, stove, dryer - what size air conditioning do you have?
• For some new construction, what wll be your total lighting load?
• You may be upgrading your electric service because you're adding more load to your current service. If this is necessary, you will be assessed a $1.00/amp tap-in fee.
• You may be building an addition to your home? An application for service is required if you want to move the location of your electric service connection.
• Will you be installing a swimming pool?
• Will you be having any other large equipment?
